Seaton footpaths - P3

The main public footpath that goes through Seaton is the national long distance South West Coast Path. This is extremely popular and brings many visitors to Seaton from both east and west.

It is maintained by East Devon District Council.

Seaton Town Council participates in Devon County Council's Parish Paths Partnership (P3) scheme.

This means that the Town Council, their volunteer warden, the County Council and various contractors work together to maintain the established local paths.

Seaton's public footpaths fall into two categories; those which provide very useful short pedestrian links between local roads, mainly through housing areas, and longer paths that reach into the surrounding countryside.

Amongst the latter are the paths that comprise the "Around Seaton Heritage Trail", one of which provides access from the town's main car park to the Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve and its award winning bird hide.

This path doubles as a stretch of the national Sustrans Cycle Route 2 (South Coast) and 33 (North Somerset Coast to South Devon Coast).

Maps of local paths are available from the Seaton Tourist Information Centre (TIC).

Allotments

Far enough inland not to be affected by salt sprays but raised and tilted to face the sea, the Seaton Town Allotment site is surely one of the most picturesque venues for “grow your own” enthusiasts.
